Blog post - This Brand Is Back Internship Entry 6

This week, minus Monday when the museum was closed and I had forgotten my laptop, my work was almost entirely either in person or online. By that I mean when I wasn’t busy running tours through the museum, I was mostly on my laptop, creating templates, designing on Canva, and just generally doing work more focused on social media and programming. It worked out well because we did have some busy days this week for tours, and I find it is much easier to interrupt the work I do on my laptop opposed to the work I do with the collection in the basement. And while this week was filled with so many great tours through the museum, the main thing I want to talk about is the social media posting and design element of it all.
In the spirit of further solidifying a consistent brand and voice for Banting House, I have taken on the task of creating several different templates that can be used at any time. You may have already seen a few of the ones I designed! I was given a few categories of posts that we needed templates for, including Dear Dr. Banting letters, brick Diaversary posts, promo for items in the gift shop, miscellaneous collection highlights and many more! No sense in having myself or anyone else re-invent the wheel every time Banting House posts. I have really enjoyed making these templates and I am excited for more people to see the work I have put into making Banting House’s socials what they are today! Expect to see lots more in the future!
It has been a pretty good week! Aside from the social media posting, I did some work this week updating the Banting House facilities rental brochure, I’ve continued work on museum programming that I won’t give the details about yet, and I worked with some other volunteers to do a very strange project that was a one and done type thing (but entertaining nonetheless). And I feel like I am really starting to get the hang of giving tours! I have learned so much through practice over the last few weeks and I really am feeling more and more confident through each new tour. As always, I am excited for what next week has to bring!
